Watson, Ulah Bernice (nee Jacobsen)
October 31, 1919 – January 29, 2006
Ulah was born in Saskatchewan but since 1922 had resided in British Columbia. She grew up in the Okanagan Valley, then graduated from Victoria Normal School and the University of British Columbia.
Ulah’s professional career as an educator covered many aspects from teaching in a one-room rural school; through teaching primary grades and holding administrative positions in the Greater Victoria School District; serving as staff associate at Simon Fraser University, and finally five years on the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria. Other related experiences included a year on exchange in Scotland, editorial work on text books and resource books for Early Childhood Education.
Marriage to Murray Watson, a pharmacist, gained her a happy step family which expanded over the years to include grandchildren and great grandchildren.
