Tommie Fu-Yi Chen passed away peacefully on June 11, 2023, in Victoria, BC. He was born on January 29, 1945, in Taipei, Taiwan.

He was predeceased by his first grandchild and is survived by his sister, brother-in-law, widow, four children, and seven grandchildren.

Tommie spent his earlier years working and learning carpentry and shipbuilding trades in California before starting his own shipyards: Hai-O Yacht Building Corp. and Ocean Eagle Yacht Building Corp. He went on to launch two iconic yacht series in the 80s, the Lord Nelson sailboats and the Victory Tug powerboats. Tommie then immigrated to Canada and later retired in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia.

A Celebration of Life was held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 10:00 am.

The family wish to thank the caretakers, nurses, doctors, and support staff at The Summit complex care facility who cared for Tommie during the last several years.
