Tom passed away peacefully at home on April 4, 2019 at the age of 76.  Tom was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Willa (2005), as well as his father, Tom Sr. (2011) and mother, Ida (1996).  He is survived by his son, Paul, daughter-in-law, Nicole, grandchildren, Nickolas (Nick – his best boy) and Zoë (Princess Zoë) and his partner, June, and many lifelong friends and extended family.

Tom was born in Nova Scotia and moved to Victoria, BC at a young age.  As a teenager, Tom met the love of his life, Willa and they were married on August 28, 1965.  Tom took early retirement and he and Willa spent several years doing the things they enjoyed together before her sudden passing in 2005.  Tom loved golfing (and having a drink or two) with the boys as well as spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.  In 2017, Tom moved to Sooke with his partner, June to be closer to family.  He will be dearly missed by all.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a date and location to be determined.

    Glen and Veronica,
I’ve had so many good memories of Tom, my brother in-law. All the times the families would get together at my mother’s house are 40 or 50 years ago, still they’re great times to think back on. When I was a teenager, Willa and Tom would occasionally have the family up to Shawnigan Lake to spend time in the cabin and go water skiing. Even though I’m a million miles away, Tom is in my heart. My girls are 30 now and they remember the cross country trips we made and our visits with Aunty Willa and Uncle Tom. We miss you Tom.

If there was ever a man I was truly honored to meet, it was you Tom. I will forever cherish the time I spent getting to know you and your family. It’s never easy to say goodbye and it’s something I generally run away from. However, I’m so very grateful I was able to express my admiration and respect for you in your final days.

See you on the other side, mate!
    John Boy

I didn’t get to see much of Tommy over the past few years but that didn’t affect how much I cared about him – he was one of the sweetest and kindest men I’ve had the pleasure to know. I never heard him say a bad word about anyone, even when they deserved it. I’ll miss knowing he’s out there, spreading love and kindness to his family and friends. My deepest condolences to all of you.

Tom, we always enjoyed our times together at the family gatherings, your stories and quick wit brought many smiles to our faces. It was a continual joy to watch the love and warmth that passed both ways between yourself and your grandchildren Nicolas and Zoë. One of your many legacys will be that you will always be remembered as “A Good Man”. Sincere condolences to the family mixed with much appreciation for your friendship.
