It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas Lawrence Pringle on June 8, 2023 in Victoria, BC.
Tom will be forever missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Myrna (née Martinson); his children, Jennifer Potter (Murray), Rob (Julie), and Laura (Daniel Hogg); his grandchildren, Ben, Tess, Sam, Griffin, Macaulay, and Callum; his sister, Meryl Forster, his brother, John (Gay); many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends. Tom was predeceased by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Jack White, Ina and Charlie Jordan, and Ken Forster.
Tom was born to William and Louise (née Haave) Pringle in Kinistino, Saskatchewan, and grew up on the family farm. Forever a farm boy at heart, he graduated from the College of Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan in 1961.
After five years of love letters and weekend commutes, Tom and Myrna were married and started their life together in Winnipeg, where they raised their three children. As a loving father, he will be remembered as quick to praise, full of practical advice, and ever ready to play.
Tom was an active member of the community holding leadership roles in the church, youth sport, and scouting. He was an avid outdoorsman, athlete, sports fan, and humanitarian. He enjoyed singing, dancing, reading, and spending quality time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Tom enjoyed a 30 year career with the Manitoba Department of Agriculture in various roles including Regional Director in Dauphin and Assistant Deputy Minister. In 1991, he became Assistant Deputy Minister of BC Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food in Victoria. He was passionate about his work and his dedication and work ethic were unmatched.
In 1997, Tom embraced retirement and spent the next 23 years in service and recreation, volunteering with Ten Thousand Villages, Norgaard Foundation, Camp Pringle, and Cordova Bay United Church, hiking with Cordova Bay Hikers, curling, golfing, and enjoying cottage life during the summers.
We will remember Tom as outgoing, warm, happy and smiling.
A service celebrating his life will be held at Cordova Bay United Church on Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at 2:00 pm.
Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to Our Place Society or the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.

gene a zawislak To Myrna, Jen, Rob, Laura and families,
Heartfelt condolences to you all at this sad time.
I’m sorry I couldn’t be there with you, but glad Shelley was able to make the trip to offer support and comfort on my behalf as well.I will miss Tom very much.
We shared common ground both being farm boys from Saskatchewan and talked farming and agriculture a lot.I learned a lot from Tom, he shared many great and interesting stories, but what I admired the most about Tom was when he wasn’t sharing stories, but listening.
Watching Tom as he listened to stories of activities my grandkids were doing or involved in for example.
He would hang on every word, smile and laugh along.
He genuinely cared about what they had to say.
Tom was a good man with a big kind heart and he earned my respect.
Myrna and family, stay strong for each other.
While a piece of the family is no longer with you, he will always remain in your memories and in your heart.
May God bless you all and keep you safe.RIP Tom.
Much love and respectGene
