On Monday, September 17th, 2018 at 5:25 am, Sieg died peacefully at Royal Jubilee Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, with the supportive care of the nurses from the 4th N floor and the doctors of the BC Cancer Clinic. We would like to give special thanks to Dr.Fenton, who cared for Sieg over this last year since his diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer. Sieg underwent Immunotherapy treatment which proved to be a hopeful part of his journey. Sieg demonstrated unfailing strength, perseverance and patience as he fought the biggest fight of his life. He did not feel it was his time to go and even in his last hours was ever so present to those around him. He always extended kindness and gratitude to everyone, regardless of how he was feeling.
Sieg was predeceased by his parents and his sisters Ingrid and Lilo.
He leaves his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Marilyn; daughters Jennifer (Chris), Jeanne (John) and Jackie (Mick); cherished grandchildren (Jacob, Piper and Calita). From previous relationships, Sieg also leaves his son, Steven (Gidget), granddaughter Mackenzie and daughter Tammi (Craig), grandson Bradley. He also leaves to grieve their loss his sisters, brother and their families: Stephanie, Wayne, Lisa, Marc, Evelyn; Ursula, Jamie, James; brother Eric, Susie, Stefan, Jeffery; brother-in-law Gary and son Michael; niece Melissa, Ryan, Aydan, Ava; nephews John and Paul, as well as, many much loved relatives from both sides of Marilyn’s and Sieg’s families.
Sieg’s love for cars became his lifetime career beginning in his early teens to becoming a licensed heavy duty and automotive mechanic. He also loved welding and creating. Sieg was a vessel of experience, skill, and knowledge. He seemed to be able to build or mend anything. He and Marilyn enjoyed working together in their own automotive business for 15 years. Sieg was known for his honesty, competence and care for each person’s vehicle.
Sieg’s signature was his laid back, cool style. A man of few words, yet he was well versed on the happenings of the world. He did not take life too seriously but cared about the serious things. In doing so, he could find humour in many things and was always good for a punchline. To his immediate family, he was stable and sure, a reliable force and sturdy rock. He was always supportive to the end. We always felt loved and encouraged to do better and strive for more. Strength is the word that comes to our mind when we think of him. We didn’t know a single person as resilient and tenacious as he was from the beginning of his life to the end. A survivor through any hardship life had thrown at him. Bulletproof. He will be eternally missed and forever in our hearts and minds.
The family would like to thank friends and family who have supported Sieg through this time, as well as, Msgr. Michael Lapierre for his attendance to Sieg at the hospital and for Fr. David Hogman and friends of the Sacred Heart Faith Community for their love and prayers.
A Funeral Mass will be held on September 28, 2018 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, 4040 Nelthorpe Street, Victoria, BC with a reception to follow in the church hall at 12:00 pm. Interment of ashes at Royal Oak Burial at 2:00 pm.

Hannah Horn & Tony Hamilton Marilyn and family, What sad news of Steve’s passing. I have such a lovely memory, Marilyn, of you and Steve on Geordie Lad at Fisherman’s Wharf with your two gorgeous blonde granddaughters perched happily on the foredeck in the sun, probably as Steve was busy doing engine work down below. Steve always seemed to be working on that boat – a labour of love, to be sure. We will miss his smiling, kind presence on our dock. We’re so sorry for your loss.
Sending love

Roberta DeDoming Thinking of Marilyn and the whole wonderful family. A real blessing for Sieg to be surrounded by all of you as he went through his illness and passing. His memory will be cherished I am sure.
I will miss seeing Steve looking out over Fisherman’s Wharf from the top of the ramp and chatting with Steve and Marilyn relaxing on Geordie Boy and on Dock E. You were both upbeat and positive and I’m sure Marilyn will carry that on tradition. Condolences to Marilyn and family.
