Shirley passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospice on September 08, 2008. Predeceased by her Mother & Father. Survived by her loving husband Kenn; her son Stephen (Catherine); grandchildren Erin & Shannon; sister-in-laws, Jerry Mawdsley Donna(Bob) Brown, Patricia (Fred) Vosper, and a cousin Sharron Cape of Toronto, ON.
Shirley was very proud of the fact that she was born here in Victoria, like so many teenagers in her day she held many after school jobs, but after graduation she started work at BC Tel as an operator downtown, and then as an accountant at the Quadra St. office she worked there for 35 years and loved her job. She had many funny stories to tell, but most of all she enjoyed the camaraderie with her fellow workers.
Shirley & Kenn were married in February 1949 and had 59 wonderful years together. They loved to travel and did many trips to California, Arizona , taking there family to Disneyland for Christmas, oh boy!! So many great tours to Europe, England, Japan, Hong Kong, and those Cruises, what a wonderful life we had, no regrets.
A Celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Vancouver & Johnson Streets, on Saturday, September 13th at 1:00 pm. A Reception will follow in the McCall’s Family Centre.
The family would like to send a special thank you for the wonderful and gentle care Shirley was given by the staff members and volunteers at the Victoria Hospice in the Richmond Pavilion.Thank you.
