At the young age of 95, Sheila Marguerite Batcheler Page (nee Williams), born August 28, 1923, passed away peacefully in Victoria, BC.
An avid tennis player, devoted fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and a life-long gardener extraordinaire, she is predeceased by son Michael Peter and generations of well-fed and cared-for family pets.
She is survived by Michael Henry Elvey Page, her loving husband of 70 years, daughter, Wendy Rosemary Page and son, Timothy Ian Page, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
May her steadfast devotion to family and friends be cherished and remembered with love and lasting memories. Whether it was visits to Willows Beach to build sand castles; trips across the country by car with tent trailer, children and animals all in tow and behaving well under her ever-vigilant eye; vacations and extra long weekends at her beloved Cowichan Lake; home-made contraptions to fend off rapacious deer from eating her favourite garden flowers, she demonstrated with every step she took her thirst for life and adventure and her commitment to loved ones.
A service to celebrate Sheila’s life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 10:00 am with The Reverend Canon Andrew Gates officiating.
The family would like to extend their thanks and sincere appreciation to the staff at Sunrise Retirement Home who capably and warmly attended to mum’s needs in her short time with them.

No matter how expected, or how much we have convinced ourselves that it will be a blessing in the end, death seems to always come as a shock. It is a not a new experience to you but that does not necessarily make it any easier. It opens a hole in the energetic fabric of our lives that will take a while to fill itself back in. And when it does, the fabric will not be the same. I will light a candle for Sheila the next few evenings. Bless her travelling soul.

Murray Mitchell A formidable spirit, whom I remember patrolling her garden in large gumboots and windbreaker, who carved her own path. The same spirit that led her to go against advice and put an ad in the paper to increase foot traffic when selling the house. Cheers to a long life with family and friends who will remember.
