A second generation native Victorian, Sandra spent most of her life in Victoria except for a brief period in the 60’s when she lived in London, England.  Having attended St. Margaret’s School from kindergarten through grade 12, she later served on both the Board of Governors of the School and the Old Girls’ Association.  She was interested in field hockey, and at one time Sandra was selected to play for Canada.  She was an avid gardener – and a very good one, too.  Sandra was a long time member of the Canadian Scottish Cadet Old Guard and a strong supporter of all the Corps affiliated with the Regiment.  The Wee One will be sadly missed by her partner of over 50 years, Rae McDonald and a large extended family.

I grew up with Sandra , as our summer cottage was right next door on Madrona Drive . My memory goes back to her Dad jack , building their current house , circa 1959 , I was the kid that straightened all the nails that Jack bent , building the house . Sandra was a bit older than me , but that didn’t stop us having a great splashing time on the beach . I can see her now , with the same smile as her mum Phoebe , we are actually related through my fathers side , but I’m not sure how , my Dad was born in Cadboro Bay , and all the families in our bay in Deep Cove were related . I had lost touch with Sandra many years ago , as I have been expat for almost 20 years . We only found out about Sandra , yesterday , 08 / 24 , when my sister and I did a nostalgia trip to the island . I am so glad I still have the vivid childhood memories .

Belated condolences for Sandra Holloway nee Noble from a childhood friend residing in Perth Australia. Our fathers were accountants for T Eaton’s company during the fifties, sixties/seventies. I saw Sandra over the years when I visited Victoria and we always exchanged letters at Christmas. One visit we met Rae at a lunch in Deep Cove after our tour of Sandra’s celebrated garden. Eatons was like a family when we were young. Sandra and I both worked for the Education department’s summer staff from 1961-1965. We both lived in residence at UBC Hamber House, Place Vanier. 1965 saw Sandra and me married. Sandra went to UK and I went to Perth WA Australia. Sandra was clever like her parents with many talents.
God be with you Sandra. Love, Karen Farr nee Leith

Sandra will be missed around the Savoy where she lived for many years. When she wasn’t out at the gardens she was always concerned about upcoming strata meetings dealing with ongoing upgrading to the building.
