Roger Anthony Cocco passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer on May 30, 2024.  He is now reunited with his loving parents, Paul and Rina Cocco.

Roger was raised in Victoria where he had a circle of close friends and associates.  He was a kind, gentle soul who was a friend to all. Roger’s dreams included horseback riding in the Chilcotin during the summer and fall and returning back to Costa Rica for the winter.

One of his favorite songs was Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones.

“Wild, wild horses, we’ll ride them someday”.

Rest in peace, Roger, you will be missed.

A special word of thanks to Father William Hann, the BC Cancer Clinic, the Community Health Nurses Fernwood, the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Jubilee Hospital for the compassionate care for Roger during his final days.  Another sincere thank you to Roger’s neighbours, Laura, Lincoln, Dave, and his very dear friends Terry, Ken, Ronaye, Diane and others for their concern and kindness during Roger’s battle.

A Mass of Christian Burial and celebration of his life will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 12:10 pm, at St. Patrick’s Parish, located at 2060 Haultain Street, Victoria, BC, with Fr. William Hann, Celebrant.

I am recently new to Victoria, moving here in May of 2021. I met Roger about 10 months after moving here and he was a very welcoming and friendly man. We had several conversations about his life growing up here in Victoria. A very generous and kind hearted man. RIP Roger and my deepest condolences to all who are close to you.

This is such shocking and terrible news! I have known Roger and his parents my entire life (I was named after his mom {and married a fellow named Paul}). When we texted last, we said we would meet up soon. I’m sorry that we didn’t in time.

My sincere condolences to all who loved Roger. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.

I will miss my friend, talking about cameras and photography. Watching Costa Rica videos and MeTV, or just sitting having a beer and a chat about nothing really that important just enjoying spending time with a great friend.
We had some fun adventures and I will cherish his friendship always.

Our thoughts & prayers go out to Roger’s friends, neighbours and all who knew him. One of our favourite memories with Roger was having a few beers and chicken wings at Christy’s Carriage House Pub on Fort St . We will miss you Roger.
