Bob passed away on Thursday March 26, in the loving arms of his wife and best friend, Pat. He fought a valiant battle against multiple myeloma for over two years. Bob was born in Victoria on January 19, 1936 to Catherine and Emerson Showers; he was a lifelong resident of Oak Bay, attending Willows School and Oak Bay High. Bob was an avid athlete, coach, umpire and armchair observer. He and Pat enjoyed numerous vacations, particularly those involving Parksville, Maui and cruising. He spent 45 years in the floor covering industry. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Pat; his cherished children, Jack (Sondra) and Don (Allison); his special grandsons, Marc and Eric, his dear brother, Jack (Roz) and his many caring in-laws, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 2 pm, Friday, April 3 at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson & Vancouver St. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Victoria Hospice Society, 1952 Bay St., Victoria, BC, V8R 1J8, for whom the family is very grateful.

It is with a saddened heart to hear of Bob’s passing. As you know mom and I saw you today at Bob’s funeral. I just wanted to let you know again how lovely the service was. The video was such a nice touching tribute to a really nice guy.
I remember way back when, we were at Beach Acres with you and your family and the Unwins and others but my memory has failed me, and Bob and Dave cooked a salmon in the sand!!! I was one very amazed kid!! Lots of fun BBQ’s at mom and dad’s during the summer. Fun times. Bob will be greatly missed.

David Edgar Pat and Family:
I was so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing, but of course not surprised. Even though expected, I know it is still a great shock to you, indeed, to us all of us. I was glad to have a little time recently with Bob and was impressed by his courage and dignity as he faced up to his illness. I also know how much he appreciated and was supported by your love and care.
I am out of town tomorrow and will not be at the service, but my thoughts are with you and of the good times I was fortunate enough to have growing up with Bob.
