Bob Rainsford passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on June 28, 2024.

He married the love of his life Margot Constance (Bowden) on January 26, 1952. Bob and Margot ran Rainsford Plumbing until he retired.  They owned a boat named the Interlude, many friends and family would accompany them on trips up and down the waterways between Vancouver Island and the Mainland.  Later in life he started building and running model boats, he even reproduced the Interlude.  Bob enjoyed working with wood in his downstairs shop where he produced many items such as trivets and novelty pins, which he gifted to friends.  He invented many items that helped both of them as they aged, such as a built-in jar opener. Bob also loved to garden, digging in the dirt was his happy place.

He is survived by his wife, Margot, his children/grandchildren/great grandchildren – Penny and Pat Howard (Tara, Kaitlynn and Carlee), Rick and Gloria (Dale, Punam, Xander and Vassan, Adam, Kendal and Miles), Barbara and John Lewis (Bryce and Derek, Liam and Hannah, and Gavin).  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.

The family would like to thank the hospital staff at VGH, 6 North for their kindness and compassion and especially Dr. Ming who showed much thoughtfulness to the family.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC, on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 2:00pm, with The Rev. Canon Andrew E. Gates officiating. A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, please honour Bob’s memory by contributing to the Heart and Stoke Foundation.
