David passed away peacefully on April 10, 2023, at the age of 96. He was born in Victoria, the eldest child of John (Jack) Bray and Mary (Murray) Bray. Predeceased by wife Phyllis in 2020 and sister Catherine in 2018. Lovingly remembered and greatly missed by daughter Cyndy, son-in-law Cliff and grandson Gareth.
Dad was a successful businessman in Victoria. He worked as a machinist for United Engineering Ltd. when he was in his early twenties, stayed on and eventually bought the company in 1971. After retirement at age 60, he and mom spent the next twenty-five years travelling afar with friends and
family. Sixty years ago, Dad built a cabin at Youbou, Lake Cowichan, where every summer was spent enjoying delicious meals, picking berries and laughing a lot. Dad was always at the helm when we wanted to go skiing and exploring around the lake.
We would like to thank the amazing ‘family’ at Sunrise Assisted Living for their compassionate care, kindness and great respect for David over these last two years.
Accepting Dad’s wishes, there will be no service. The family respectfully declines any offering of flowers but instead would welcome donations to a charity of your choice.
‘We will miss you so much Dad’

Liz Kenny Hi Cyndy, Cliff and Gareth.
I’m very sorry to hear about your Dad, Cyndy. Losing parents and grandparents is very hard.
I like to think that you always carry the love you had for them and the love they gave to you, and that never leaves.
Please accept my condolences on the passing of your Dad
The date July 30th, 1973 will always be in my memory — it was the date I started working for your Dad (my first proper job!). Though I didn’t know Dave as a tradesman, I found him to be a great employer and a very practical man. I believe I learned a lot from him during the 13 years employed at United Engineering. As the 50th anniversary of my employ approaches, I discovered that your father had passed (I last spoke with him at the time of the 40th anniversary).
Please accept my condolences on his passing, and also that of your mother and aunt. Best wishes to you and your family.
