Born on May 11th, 1946, in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Phyllis passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at the Royal Jubilee Hospital on June 8th, 2024. Predeceased by her mother, Theresa Jackson, in 2007, Phyllis will be profoundly missed by her son Byron, daughter-in-law Natasha, and granddaughter Noémie, as well as her siblings Garnet (Gale), Harley (Ann), Ron (Maria), Gerry (Julie), Mary (Norm), Chris (Carla), and Terry (Rhonda). She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Nieces Janna and Katie cherished a deep bond with their beloved Aunt Phyllis, finding solace, guidance, and endless laughter in her comforting presence. Phyllis was more than just a beloved family member; she was a source of strength for family and friends. Phyllis’s compassion shone brightly as she, alongside her mother Theresa, dedicated over 30 years to caring for special needs adults as certified caregivers, leaving a legacy of kindness and empathy. Phyllis dedicated numerous years to serving as an executive assistant in the BC legislature until her retirement in 2001.
A celebration of Phyllis’s life was held on June 15th, 2024, honoring her memory and the cherished moments shared with close friends and family. Special thanks to the staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Phyllis’ kind and courageous spirit, the family invites donations to be made to the BC Cancer Foundation, which can be made in memory of Phyllis at https://bccancerfoundation.com/donations.

Joy Kruger I remember what a lovely shining light Phyllis was at our classes at Silver Threads. I was an instructor there for ten years and I remember her positive and friendly nature, and her natural smile and easy and caring way of being with me and all the others in our class at Silver Threads. My condolences to you all, family and friends, for your loss of this lovely family member, who brought a genuine light-sparked energy to our classes. All the best to you and treasured memories that continue on.
I met Phyllis through Shawn and was invited to many a meal as well as family gatherings at Grandma’s house. The easy going conversations were a source of amusement to me as she often finger wagged Shawn as they good naturedly teased each other. I still have the gigantic dragonfly (some 3 ft in width) that she presented to me on my birthday well over 2 decades ago. I will cherish it forever as any one that knows me well, knows I love dragonflies. Dragonflies, when they land on you, remind you to be more present. Phyllis… whenever I see a dragonfly from now on, I will think of you. Rest in Peace.
