Brian and Kathy Sugrue send our deepest condolences at the loss of your father. As you celebrate his life today may all your cherished memories bring you comfort and peace at this sad time.

Mr. Lindgren was my Grade 5 teacher at Langford Elementary and I have such fond memories of that time in his class. I remember his kindness and his compassionate approach to teaching. He always saw each student as an individual and treated each of us with respect. Mr. Lindgren was also the principal at Savory when I did my final teaching practicum. For me, he exemplified what the teaching profession is all about. My sincere condolences to Mr. Lindgren’s family.

Phil Lindgren was the first principal of Wishart Elementary, just after he returned from teaching in Africa. My three children enjoyed the stories of his experiences there and all enjoyed having him as a teacher. As a parent who was active in the Wishart School Supporters, I appreciated his collegial approach to building a supportive learning community for our children. He set the tone for Wishart school that I hope endures to this day. Our condolences to Mary and family.

I am sorry to hear that Mr.Lindgren has passed. I am a former student of Savory School and in 1965 I was in grade 2 and Mr.Lindgren was our principal and Grade 7 teacher. There is no doubt in my mind that he became the wonderful teacher he was because it was indeed his calling. I believe it was the following year or so later he took his family to Kenya so he could teach.
With God’s Speed Sir and god bless

I have just read the obituary for Philip Lindgren. Mr Lindgren was my teacher at Langford Elementary School (since renamed Ruth King) in the early 60s. He was my teacher for both grade 5 and grade 7 I would like to pass on my condolences to his family, and to let you all know that he was one of the best teachers that I ever had. What I particularly appreciated about him, especially in later years, was the way that he taught his students to think critically and to always ask questions before making an evaluation. Looking back I consider him to be one of the most principled teachers that I ever had, and that includes through my university and post grad degrees. You should all be proud to have had such a man as your husband, father and grandfather.

Thought we would leave this message since both of us will be unable to attend the celebration of life for your father Philip. We will be with you all in spirit Stephanie. I know it is very impersonal on the computer. Hopefully in the future we can find a better way and get the opportunity to communicate more in person. Love and prayers Julie and Ray
