Rick and Anne Marie Deveau I was trying to sum up in one word what Olive meant to me, a difficult task for sure.
The one word I came up with was Mentor.
She mentored me in more ways than I could ever count.
She was there for me during some difficult times in my life. Any time I phoned her in a panic she never once told me she didn’t have time, even though I knew she was a very busy woman. I trusted her common sense advice and her confidentiality.
Her mentorship taught me to have confidence to host people in my home, confidence to teach, confidence to parent in ways I had never thought of, confidence to just be who I am and know that God loved me!
I will miss you my friend, but I thank God for all that you and Dennis have poured into this Deveau family.
-
Joy & Phil Peterson We will be thinking of you all today as you celebrate Olive’s amazing life of service to her family, her friends, and to strangers. She will be deeply missed. With many happy memories and our love and prayers as you have embarked on a new chapter with a missing presence at your tables. Her silenced voice on earth is not stilled in heaven. Absent from her body but present with her precious Lord and friend.

Jean & Dennis Wells What can I say. Ever since Olive & I met in the 60’s and discovered Den & Den were both mad, we’ve had a very close friendship in which thousands of miles made no difference. Over the years we’ve kept in touch, highlighted by Den & Olive visiting us & us visiting them in Canada. I will really miss Olive’s newsy letters about everyday life and family, sometimes exchanging recipes. Her passing has left a great hole in our hearts but it can never remove the fun we had & lasting memories . We will miss you dearly and look forward to meeting her with our Lord

Elizabeth and Gary Inrig It’s hard to put into words how much all of you meant to us Dennis and family – when we say ‘we love you’; the Lord brought you to us at Bethany Chapel and you were like family to us. Our children have only grand memories of ‘Auntie O’ and my time with Olive as a dear friend was always precious. Her love of life, the Lord, family and care for others never waned. We will always treasure the courage we witnessed these last months as she bore faithful witness to her Lord to the very end.

Alan and Bev Taylor We have been so blessed by both Olive and Dennis. Olive’s big heart of welcome, full of love for and faith in her Lord and Saviour, blessed us, as did her gift of hospitality and joyful service in so many ways. We do not grieve as those who have no hope, but such a loss is hard this side of heaven. We lift you up Dennis, as we have been in prayer for you and the family.

Diana Kohl God knew exactly what I needed when He brought Olive into my life. She was my first Bible study teacher and a model of what it means to be a woman in Christ. She listened to me, made me feel loved, corrected me, taught me how to pray and was instrumental in my decision to be baptized. I was blessed to spend a whole afternoon with her 3 months ago. She will be sorely missed, but I know we’ll reunite one day❤️ My condolences to Dennis and the entire family. Praying for you.
-
Trevor & Sheila Warke We are saddened and send our sincere condolences to her many family members and friends; but are thankful for the peace of knowing she is with her Lord and Saviour. Please know of our love & Prayers for the family at this time. Trevor & Sheila ❤️

Mrs.Scott will always stand out in my mind as a woman on a beautiful yet often thankless mission. As a child I had a level of appreciation for her good humoured, no nonsense, hospitable and giving approach to life, but now as an adult her many tireless investments are that much more pronounced in my mind. What a beautiful Light she reflected!
May you be richly rewarded for the race you ran so well, Mrs. Scott. Generations to come will benefit from your faithfulness.
