Neil “Buster” Tattrie passed away peacefully on January 17th, 2008, at the age of 93

years. Neil was born on September 29th, 1914, in New Denver B.C., and spent most of his childhood in Sandon, B.C. He attended Normal School in Victoria, and worked briefly as a miner before serving overseas as a surveyor with the Canadian Army in WW II. He worked for the Provincial Government for many years, rising to a senior position in the Ministry of Highways. During this time, he completed a Diploma in Public Administration.

Neil was predeceased by Dulcie, his wife of 64 years, in 2001. He is survived by sons Stephen (Liz), Alan (Sheila), and daughter Susan Batstone (David), and by his sisters Jean, Merle, and Audie. He leaves four grandchildren, Jim (Sarah), Michelle (Adrian), Rhys, and Jocelyn, and three great-children, Cole, Chase, and Graham.

Neil served as Worshipful Master of Haida Lodge and as a District Deputy Grand Master of Victoria District 21 AF&AM. He was also a 32 nd Degree Member of the Scottish Rite, a Past TPGM of the Victoria Lodge of Perfection, and a Charter Member of the Vancouver Island Consistory.
