Following the earlier announcement of the passing of Muriel Sallis, the family would like to invite you to McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria BC, V8Y 1B4 for a celebration of her life on Saturday, August 26th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. Any donations to the Diabetes Association would be wonderful. For more info contact Bonnie at 1-250-724-2906.
Muriel was born in Arlington Heights, Massachusetts, U.S.A. on January 27, 1927 but she grew up in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She was quite the singer in her early years and loved music and dancing the jive her whole life. She died at Resthaven Lodge, Sidney, B.C. on June 2, 2017.
She will be missed by her family, the loves of her life: her 5 children Ron (Judi), Bob (Eileen), Bonnie (Ron), Rick (Anne), and Randilee (Jaime); her 8 grandchildren, Rob, John, Lisa, Steve, Corbin, Shayla, Kelsie, and Mackenzie; as well as her 6 great-grandchildren, George, Ethan, Emily, Marco, Nicholas, and Julia.
Mom loved being around people. Her fun spirit and laughter drew everyone to her whether she was on the ferries, golfing, working her demo table at Costco, or playing cards with her friends. She loved baking for everyone and is known for her wonderful pies, cookies, fudge and blackberry jelly. A great memory is of her sitting on her deck enjoying the sunshine and sharing her toast and jam with any visiting family dogs.
Mom was the eldest of Elma and Harold Polley’s 6 children: (Fred, David, Vera, Marjorie, and Butch). Married at 18 she moved to Vancouver with her new naval husband (Ron). She had many adjustments to make to her new life as she became a mother at 19 and was so far away from her own family. In her working years, Mom was most proud of becoming the first female chief steward on BC Ferries. She had a very rewarding career.
We are all so thankful for the excellent care and support she received from all the staff at Ross Place and at Resthaven Lodge.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
No flowers, please but if you wish to make a donation to the Diabetes Foundation that would be wonderful.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Patricia Bremner So very sorry to learn of the passing of Muriel, a former neighbour at Brechin Views. Always brings a smile to my face when I recall one of the last times we connected. She and another friend, Joyce, were trying out ( well actually racing) motorized wheelchairs and were doing their darndest to come in first into the parking lot. Always a smile and always a kind word. Rest in peace, my friend. Condolences to the family but what wonderful memories you have.

Joyce Hilton I am so sorry for your family’s great loss. Muriel was for sure a “people” person. We golfed with her for years here in Chemainus and always had her encouraging and inspiring us with her iron skills. Many times, I saw her in Costco, marketing her “product of the day” with a great big smile and cheery greetings for everyone. We shared a love of cooking, bunches of rosemary for her lemonade syrup and bags of apples for her pies. We heard many proud loving tales of her family, so knew how important you all were in her life. May she rest in peace.

Randi Dawson My moms smile would light up a room, she was positive, loving, happy and infectiously friendly. Mom made friends easily. Her love of singing was throughout my whole life. She took care of herself til the end…at 89 she would still have a manicure
I felt loved and very full (of good home cooking). Mom I will miss you and reflect daily on your funny sayings. I will miss you forever. Love Randi
