On Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the age of 93, Genie went to be with the Lord with her devoted daughter, Diane by her side. Born in Sussex, England on November 19, 1915, she came to Canada with her parents and two brothers and two sisters when she was 3. Genie is survived by her daughters, Heather Hinton (Marvin) and Diane Rasmussen (Doug Holcombe); 5 grandchildren, Verne, Leslie, Cathy, Eric and Kim; 5 nieces, 1 sister, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred in 1997; son-in-law, George Rasmussen in 2001; 2 brothers and one sister. Genie lived most of the last 10 years at Luther Court and was loved by all. Special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses of 4 Centre at Royal Jubilee Hospital. Also thanks to niece, Juanita Croll and staff at Luther Court for all their care.
A Memorial Service will be held at Luther Court on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Genie’s memory would be appreciated to Luther Court, 1525 Cedar Hill Cross Road, Victoria, BC V8P 2P2.
