With great sadness, we say goodbye to our dad, Michael Stephen Case, at the age of 75. His passing was unexpected but peaceful, surrounded by family.
Michael was born 7 minutes ahead of his twin, Vincent, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He is predeceased by father Bill, mother Rita and brother Vince, whom he missed dearly.
Family was everything to dad. Mourning his loss are his children, Vince (Jennifer), Melissa (Kelly) and Shelley (Pierre); his siblings Theresa (John), Jack (Mary), and Glo (Gene); his grandchildren Tiernan, Sarah and Keaton; his nieces and nephews Stephen, David, John, Jen, Sarah, Mikey, Chris, Genie, Rita, Bruce and Brian; and his sweetie, Lynn. Being a descendant of the Clarkson clan, he has countless aunts, uncles and cousins he adored.
To know him was to laugh. Michael was loved by everyone he met and always had a story to share. If you have tales of Michael, or any of his shenanigans, please come share them with us at his Celebration of Life at 2pm, Saturday, March 25, 2023 in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Dr, Victoria, BC.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in his memory, to the Victoria Hospitals Foundation at https://www.victoriahf.ca/donate/ The funds go toward vital lifesaving equipment for the Cardiac Care Unit and the ICU, where they expertly and compassionately cared for dad, and his family, in his last days.

Sharon Hazelwood I knew Michael through his time at Stats Can and enjoyed his stories, his positive attitude and his ability to win over reluctant strangers who he convinced of the worth of participating in information-gathering to benefit Canadians, the ‘bigger picture’. He also gave encouragement to those of us active in union matters. And those lovely pens! Thank you to the family for making the service available, and my very best wishes for comfort in this time.

Maja Furlong I have happy memories of taking the ferry to Victoria and visiting Michael’s antique store on Fort Street where I bought some of my very first fountain pens from him (still have them!). When he found out that my pen friend learned pen repair from the same English gentleman that taught Michael, he showed me his pen repair workshop at the store, and then proudly brought out his magnificent vintage Waterman red ripple hard rubber fountain pen desk set that Queen Elizabeth II used to sign a document while visiting Victoria. I hadn’t seen Michael for a few years and then one day, he mentioned that he would be coming to Vancouver and asked if he could attend one of our pen club (the Vancouver Pen Club) meetings and I said “Of course!”. It was great to see him again at the meeting, as well as at a local antique show (where I bought more really nice fountain pens from him). Michael always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye when he talked about fountain pens. He was a talented pen repairman (whose prices were always very fair) and a really nice guy. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Michael’s family and friends on his passing.

Dave & Linda Webster We fondly remember such fun times with Mike & Carol and the ‘cousins’! The Teasdale/Webster/Case family get-togethers at birthdays and Christmas were delightful. Whether at Fork Lake, St. Ann Street, Caton Place or anywhere, Mike was always front and center teasing and joking and making it fun for everyone. Thank you Mike, for being YOU, for being a joyful part of our lives. Marilyn M. Clarkson My heart goes out to all the family at the sudden loss of Michael Case. He will be dearly missed; however, Mike is with his twin brother, Vince, now and the two of them are having a wonderful reunion with all the old Uncles, Aunts and many friends that have been waiting for him.
Mike’s laugh was always contagious and I treasure the times he called or dropped-by to see Uncle John, especially during his time in Sooke. He always found a way to see the bright side of life and bring cheer with his visit.

I worked with Michael with Stats Canada and thought he was the most charismatic and interesting gentleman. We all enjoyed his company in his trips into Vancouver and I greatly enjoyed time spent with him in Victoria. He knew Victoria well and he took me for the best fish and chips for lunch and showed me all the sites and highlights driving around the city. He had such a varied and interesting life and was such a source of entertainment with his tales about his family, his service, his pen profession, and so much more. He was always a pleasure to be with! His love for his family shone through in anything he said, and I’m sure he was a wonderful dad and grandfather, as well as brother. Life wasn’t always easy for Michael I know but he lived it fully and made the best of every situation. So sorry for your loss – a truly lovely gent is gone.
