On Monday August 29, 2022 Noel Robertson passed away peacefully in his sleep after an extremely full and adventurous life of 90 years. Noel was a proud Irishman, the 4th in a typically Irish catholic family of nine children. Noel took every opportunity life presented him and made the absolute best out of life’s gifts.

Noel had an opportunity to immigrate to Canada in the late 1950’s and as expected he made the most of this experience. He began his career as a building estimator in Montreal, gaining experience he quickly became an assistant supervisor of premises for eastern Canada with Toronto Dominion bank. Noel would continue with TD bank for the balance of his career with a steady rise in rank and responsibilities. He held various positions in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver before rounding out his time as Vice President of Real Estate Operations for TD.

Noel and his wife Janet settled in Victoria BC for their retirement years where Noel could focus on his golf game and socializing as much as he and Janet could handle! They soon became involved in the local community via the “Newcomers” where they were active long past a newcomer status.

Noel was a keen member of his local parish and volunteered with a number of local charities all while doting over his wife Janet. Noel was always planning for future needs and in 2017 opted to set up residence at Berwick Royal Oak retirement home. As per usual Noel became busy making new friends at Berwick many of whom were surprised and saddened to hear of his passing.

Noel leaves behind his loving wife Janet Robertson, son Paul Robertson and wife Sharon, granddaughters Jasmine and Saia of Richmond BC, his daughter Lorraine DeCosta and grandchildren Mariah and Colin of Massachusetts, stepson Scott MacLean of Toronto, sister Alice of Dublin, Ireland along with many nieces and nephews and finally his B.C. adopted family of Mary, Tim, Meredith and Sydney Witoski of Victoria BC.

Noel had requested that in lieu of flowers any donations be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

I have wonderful memories from childhood, spending countless hours at the home in Toronto, hanging out with Scott.

Noel and Janet were always warm and welcoming, and I enjoyed talking about motorcycles with Noel and hearing his stories.

My condolences to Janet and Scott, and the rest of the family.

My memory of Noel is of a spiritual man with a great Irish sense of humor and love of fun. He and my husband Bob got along so well when they were involved with the Men’s Newcomers in Victoria. Both of them had a love of golf and a good joke.
Rest in peace Noel, knowing Janet and your family miss you.

Noel was one of a kind. He married my friend Janet and they lived a full life enjoying each other’s company and doing a lot of travelling. He had a great sense of humour and really enjoyed his golf games. He also had a love of photography and took many black and white pictures of my daughters when they were babies!
    Rest in peace Noel.

I have many fond memories of Noel, visiting them in Ontario & Vancouver, having them visit us in PA. A memorable Alaska cruise with our daughter Aishling and her husband Mike.
Noel will be missed by all who knew him. He was kind, funny and generous. A loving and caring husband to my sister-in-law Janet.
    RIP dear Noel

  • Deirdre O’Ruairc

Janet, Paul and Lorraine and families, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Noel was a great support to Brian and I when we arrived in Vancouver from Dublin Ireland. Great memories. We met many times when my Mum visited and when Lottie visited from California, or Phyliss from Australia. Yes, he was a proud Irish man and lived life to the fullest. Sending lots of love from Brian, Deirdre and family O’Ruairc.

I first met Noel over thirty years ago – shortly after he married my sister Janet! I knew I would like Noel from the first day that I met him. He has always been smart, funny, kind, generous and full of life. He loved his golf, photography and motorcycles. and he and Janet loved to travel. Most of all I will remember Noel as the loving, caring and devoted husband to my sister Janet.

Noel will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

  • Alice MacIonraic (Robertson)

Will be sadly missed by his sister Alice.
Always remembered him as a kind and sincere brother.
    May he rest in peace.

To the Robertson family: Noel, thank you for your commitment with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. You and Janet were so gracious in giving your time and generosity toward our many marginalized families and causes. Your concerns were always said with such compassion and caring. I miss the good laughs during our meetings and after Mass. Our heritage was another bond between us and will always remember your continued optimism.

A quote from Hamlet: “Good night sweet (Irish) prince, may the flights of angels sing thee to thy rest”.
