Beloved Michael John Percy, 67, born in Kingston, Ontario to John and Mary Percy, passed away on May 30th, 2022 surrounded by family in his home in Victoria BC.

Through his passion for fashion and his dapper style, Michael found his calling as a hairstylist for 48 years. He opened Michael John Hair Design in 1986 where his colleagues and clients became lifelong friends and were very dear to him. Michael moved to Victoria in 1978 with his wife, Jayne, where they raised their family of 3 children, Brittany, Christian and Janelle. He was a kind and loving partner to Jayne, an amazing father to his three children and a fun Poppi to his 5 grandchildren. In his spare time he loved tennis, cheering his children on in sports, junk food night, hockey, family vacations at the lake and spending time with his family and friends. He always kept us laughing with his bad dad jokes and funny antics.

Michael is survived by his wife, Jayne; children, Brittany (Dallas), Christian (Ariana) and Janelle (Alex); grandchildren, Rocklind, Easton, Lincoln, Alora and Lennox; sisters, Darlene (deceased), Sandra, Joanne, and Pamela; brother, John; stepbrother, Peter, stepsister; Jane and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Heaven received a good one.

The family is holding a private Funeral and Celebration of Life on June 10th, 2022. We ask that any donations made in Michael’s honour be made to your local animal shelter. Michael always had a soft spot for dogs.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

    Dearest Jayne and family,

I’m deeply sorry for your loss, I have fond memories of MJ, your 1st ‘child’ Shere Khan, MJ’s hanger collection and his forward fashion style. I hope you both finally enjoyed the champagnes!

I’m so sad to hear of Michael’s passing. We ran into eachother last year and he spoke just the kindest words to me and brought me to tears. It makes me smile to see him described here as dapper, as that is how I will always remember him. Rest easy friend, your terrible dad jokes will be sorely missed.

Dear family of Michael – I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved husband, father, grandfather and father in law. Michael was my hair stylist for almost 20 years. Over that time we talked about everything-fashion, clothes, politics, the value of hard work ( he was so proud of how accomplished his children were) and finally, his wife’s amazing air B&B business. Of course we always talked about his amazing wardrobe and and his most recent purchases. It was amazing how he could coordinate different pieces and look like a page out of A fashion magazine. I was so fortunate to have known him and miss him. My deepest condolences to your family.

Sometimes life seems to go by so fast and you wish you had stopped and said hello, exchanged a word or two, thanked that person for the care and attention that they had bestowed on you, their laughter, their sweet disposition but….

My condolences to his family, they meant the world to him. We pass this way but once but the memories we leave last a lifetime. Michael John was a good one.

Dear Jayne and all of the family
I was very saddened to learn of your loss. Michael was my hair stylist for about twenty years on Blanshard St and through that time we grew to know and appreciate each other.
As our families were similar ages we exchanged many tales of childrens’ growth and developments. I saw him as a kind and loving parent, very proud of his family and each kid’s accomplishments.
We swapped bad dad jokes many times, each building our repertoire or arsenal, to later be unleashed with perfect timing. He had great humour.
We also often exchanged holiday plans, reports and destinations, including lakeside cabin rentals at Sproat and Shawinigan
He was a kind, good person and I know his memory will be cherished by his family.

So sorry to hear of Michael‘s passing. He was my hairstylist for 40 years, we jokingly referred to him as my hair husband.
We had many great conversations about our children as they grew up, movies, music and very often, hockey particularly the Canucks. I have seen him struggle over these past few years but he faced it all with such courage and good spirits. He is so proud of his family and I know he was a wonderful dad and granddad. Heaven truly did get a good one. My deep condolences to all his family, he loved you very much .
