It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ropchan (nee Paskoski) early on Monday, January 7, 2019. She died peacefully at the age of 91 on her actual birthday, after a couple months in the Victoria Aberdeen Lansdown Rehab Unit recovering from hip replacement surgery.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nick Ropchan in June 2017 and three brothers and four sisters. She leaves behind her daughter, Valerie (John) Kok; son, Jerry (Susan) Ropchan; 3 grandchildren, Josh (Michelle) Koke, Michael Kok and Kiera Ropchan; 2 great granddaughters, Quinn and Isla Koke and one sister, Stella Shupenia, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Mary was born on January 7, 1928 in Holden, Alberta and later moved to Edmonton where she lived most of her life until she moved with her husband to Victoria, BC in 2005. She lived with many health issues in her later years including kidney dialysis for over 14 years.
The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to all her health care providers including the Renal Dialysis Unit with special mention to Dr. Antonsen.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:00 am with Burial to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
