A mountain of a man.
In the early hours of February 9th, Marvin suddenly but peacefully passed away at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC.
Marvin was predeceased by his son Jason and his sister Eileen. He is deeply missed by his daughter Dorinda; grandson Marshall; former spouse Barbara; his brother Gary; sister Linda; as well as countless relatives and friends.
Marvin was born and raised on a farm in Alberta. He was adept at farming and loved animals. He was a true outdoorsman and passed along all his knowledge and skills to his children. Countless memories of fishing trips, hunting, horse-back riding adventures, river boating, cross-country skiing and more will be remembered and shared for generations. He worked throughout his life as a policeman, fire chief, safety/security and first aid posts. Later in life, he worked in the trucking industry and taxi service. He was an arm-wrestling champion in the 1970’s and won many trophies. He had a knack for making people laugh or cringe with his outspoken and direct personality.
He spent the last years of his life at Oak Bay Lodge and the Summit, where he enjoyed socializing with many residents and staff. The family thanks the staff there who looked after him over the years. Marvin embraced the circle of life and always held a positive and care-free attitude. He is tremendously missed and lovingly remembered.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre (Wild Arc) in his memory. https://spca.bc.ca/donations/wild-arc/

Divona Higgins Condolences to you all!!! Sorry to hear of your Dads passing. I remember my Dad loved to talk to Him about wrestling and how it was usually over a brew. Memories we will always have and cherish forever. ALL OUR BEST… TAKE CARE
I am so very sorry to hear of cousin Marvin’s passing. My favorite memory of him was when he and Barbara got married. I had so much fun at their wedding reception at Uncle Clifford’s place. I must have been about ten years old then and I remember how tall he was and how she seemed so much shorter than him. She was a beautiful bride and he was very handsome. Then I saw him and his family at Uncle Carl and Aunt Isabel’s 40th anniversary party. Living in Alaska, I just never had the opportunity to see him again, but I remember him fondly. So sorry for the family’s loss.
