On a bright Sunday morning Martin was killed on his motorcycle by a hit and run driver. Martin’s death has forever changed the lives of his beloved daughter, Zola and her devoted, caring mother Ann (Simon), his mother Pat Low (Dennis Wheatley), his father Ken Auld (Lorraine), dear sister Susan (J.P. Perkins), beloved nephews Kahlil and Jaryn (Jen), halfsisters Jenny and Megan (Bill). He also leaves to mourn Ann’s loving family and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends throughout Canada and abroad. At age eight, Martin came with his family from Scotland to Victoria where he finished his schooling and became a journeyman carpenter under J.P.’s mentorship. The skill and care and honest practice with which he completed his work earned him the respect of his colleagues and clients. Martin’s family and friends will remember him for the boundless love that he showed to Zola, his eclectic taste in music and literature and his sharp sense of humour. Martin’s family extend our heartfelt gratitude for the care and respect shown us by the paramedics, emergency room nurses and physicians, coroner and the officers of the Victoria Police Dept.
A gathering to remember Martin will be held at McCall Bros, 1400 Vancouver St. on Friday, September 5th at 2pm. As Martin did not like formality casual dress and attitudes are welcome. No flowers please.
