It is with very mixed feelings that we announce the passing of Marianne Rose Elizabeth Bodnar (nee Stos). We are happy that Marianne is no longer suffering the painful, demeaning, and debilitating problems of Parkinson’s disease, while we mourn the loss of a dear and loving wife, sister and aunt.

Marianne was born in Sudbury where she met her lifelong mate Al. They married in August of 1960. After high school Marianne went to work for the brokerage firm Doherty Roadhouse and worked in the brokerage business throughout her life.

Marianne was an avid golfer and a passionate walker who could be seen everyday on the steep terrain of Dean Park. Her flower garden was as beautiful as she was. To say that Marianne was a rabid Canucks fan is an understatement.

Marianne and Al traveled extensively but spent many winters in Thailand. At home Marianne was an excellent cook who loved to entertain and she set a fine table.

She is survived by her husband Al, upon whom she doted, and her brothers Don, John, Paul and her sister Christina Goddard, as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom will sorely miss “Ant Mary”.

Donations to the Parkinson Society www.parkinson.bc.ca would be appreciated.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Marianne had a delightful sense of humour and a pleasure to Golf and or Curl with her. She enjoyed her lifestyle and was such a brave bearer of the pain she suffered. Thankful that she contributed to our community and offer condolences to Al and the family. God speed, Marianne.

We go back a long way, 1974 if I recollect, at Midland Doherty. She was, Marianne, very talented at running things in the office, I would say the best in my experience. Always cheery and upbeat. The clients liked her too. I’m sorry how she spent her final years; she didn’t deserve that.
Best wishes Al. You will get through it.
