I’ll always remember Mrs Hartwig’s warm laugh and amazing sense of humour. One of my earliest memories is of trying German style yoghurt at the Hartwig home when I was a child back in the 70’s…….my condolences go out to Kat, Mark and the grand children……may you now rest in peace.

  • Heather Leschied

My sincerest condolences for the loss of your mother and grandmother Kat, Helmut, Finlay and Lillian. My heart and thoughts are with you.

For years, my first (and favourite) task every Sunday opening shift was to put aside Mrs. Hartwig’s newspapers at our store for her. When I shaved my hair down to a buzzcut years ago, she would call me her “little chick” and pat my head when she came by me in the shop, memories I hold fondly.

She was a hilarious lady, with just as much spunk as she had poise. It is not an exaggeration to say that her passing is felt deeply across our entire staff and that she was someone we truly looked forward to seeing every day. Her presence will be missed greatly.

So sorry for your loss. Marianne will be sadly missed. It is the end of an era. There are so many fond memories of growing up in the neighborhood with both of our families. With deepest sympathies.

I was one of several woman who cared for “Mrs.H” for the last few years of her life.
She was lovely and gracious to us all, and appreciative of any small service we did for her.
Always saying “Thank you “ with a smile.

She will be missed by us all.
