We are sad to say goodbye to our much-loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
Peggy leaves behind her three daughters, Susan Frost (Rex), Katherine Moore and Ellen Arndt, her five grandchildren, Adrienne Ellis, Aaron Ellis (Kelly), Anna Hahn (Lars), Emily Arndt (Aaron), Erin Moore (Cory), and her seven great grandchildren, Dylan and Megan Ellis, Hudson and Landon Moore, Poppy and Margot Atkinson, and Fritz Hahn. Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Don and Muriel Moore, her brother, Don Moore, her sister, Katherine Dexter, and her husband, Jack Swanston (2009). Peggy was proud to have grown up in the Peace River country of northern Alberta. She was born in Spirit River where she met and married Jack, and where their daughters were born. Upon moving to Grande Prairie in 1956, she joined Eastern Star and began her career as a dental assistant. Moving to Victoria in 1971, Peggy volunteered at the RBC Museum, sang in the choir at Oak Bay United Church and resumed her dental career. During her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering with the Sendial Program at Thrifty’s, playing bridge, and knitting for family, friends and the Royal Jubilee Hospital Auxiliary gift shop. Being a very social person, Peggy enjoyed the camaraderie of the early morning walkers at Hillside Mall and Saturday morning coffee meet-ups. No one was more up-to-date on global and local affairs than Peggy. She was a faithful TC reader, a watcher of many news and public affairs shows and a listener of talk radio programs. Being with her grandchildren, and then her great grandchildren, was treasured time for Peggy. She couldn’t believe that she was lucky enough to be around to get to know her “grands” and “great grands”.
The family would like to thank Dr. Geoff Inman, those who cared for her from the VIHA Palliative Care Program at RJH, and those who guided and assisted us through the MAID process. Peggy appreciated the friendships of her neighbours at Tod House and the women of her bridge group, Fern, Katharine and Corky.
At Peggy’s request, there will be no service. Should you wish to honour her life well-lived, consider a donation to Cardiac Care (RJH) or MAID.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

dianecameron Many FOND memories of Peggy. My mother EILEEN CARLSON was a good friend of Peggy. They shared the same profession of dental assistant. Every Friday after retirement Mom and Peggy would go out for lunch and do a scenic drive around Victoria. They also travelled together. I remember fondly when Mom and Peggy came to Hawaii to visit me in Oahu. I had a lovely conversation with Peggy a few months ago when she called me. Rest in peace dear Peggy. A lovely LADY! CONDOLENCES TO ALL THE FAMILY

K. Lynn Hyska Peggy’s family,
We are thinking of you at this time on the loss of your dear mom, grandma, great grandma. I only met Peggy once when I brought my Mom , Mary Kirkham out for a visit to Victoria. Your mom was a gem and so lovely to visit with. Until my Moms passing(2020 Nov) they kept in touch by phone and short notes and since my brother Kelvin and her changed calls often. Kelvin told me this evening that he spoke with Peggy not long ago and she was up beat and in good spirits despite her failing health. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Since condolences.
If you wish to connect please send an email I know Peggy had our numbers.
Lynn, thank you for leaving your message. Mom was a very social person and enjoyed Kelvin’s phone calls and letters.
