Margaret Hamilton died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Victoria, B.C. on April 9, 2021 at the age of 91.  She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 55 years, Wylie, her daughters Norma Dowler (Patrick) and Jennifer Hamilton (Gordon), and two grandsons Campbell and Rowan Dowler. She also leaves behind three sisters (Sally and Ishbel Campbell and Catriona McNulty (Danny) and a brother (Ronald) and beloved nephews, nieces and cousins in her birth country of Scotland. She is predeceased by her brothers Donald, John, and Angus Campbell.

A nurse and midwife who trained in Stirling, Margaret emigrated to Canada in 1956 and 10 years later married Wylie, who she met on the ski train to Jasper. They spent most of their married life in Edmonton, before moving to Victoria to watch their grandsons grow into fine young men, of whom Maggie was exceedingly proud.

Margaret’s life was shaped by her adventurous spirit, the twinkle in her blue eyes and her fierce devotion to her family and the many, many friends she collected in her long and wonderful life. Her family will miss her tremendously.

We were so very sad to hear of Maggie. We spent many hours passing the time of day chatting about nothing at all at the lake. We are so very glad we got to see her one more time in Victoria. All our love, Mary and Hans Schimanke

My good and long time friend Wylie:
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your lovely wife and partner for 55 years.
She was such a special person in so many ways. Mary Agnes so often asked, “I wonder where Maggie is?”
Mary Agnes had a special admiration for Margaret. Years ago we had many fun dinners and get togethers!
So Wylie, may Margaret in Peace with all her Angels around her!
    Ivan Radostits
