Marion died July 10, 2024, at Saanich Peninsula Hospital near her home at Waters Edge in Saanichton, BC.  She was born March 6, 1930, in Brandon, MB.

Predeceased by her husband George in 2010, daughter Donna (2006), grand daughter Melissa (2022) and brothers Alan (2007) and Donald (2013) Marion is survived by her children: David (Sandi), Carol Stathers (David) and Christopher (Glendora).  Her grandchildren gave her tremendous pride and joy.  Kimberly, Kevin, Ian, Connor, Melissa, Jordan, Geoffrey, Tyler, Kayla, Jared and Melissa as well as their life-mates provided Marion with much love and support as only fine people can.  Your parents admire and thank you.

Marion and George married in 1951 and resided in Winnipeg, MB, where their children were born.  Moving to Victoria, BC, in 1966, they settled in Gordon Head where Marion ran the household.  George’s retirement and an empty nest led to a move to Sidney, BC, and later Arbutus Ridge.  Having always enjoyed camping with the family, Marion and George spent their winters RVing and golfing in Arizona.  Marion was particularly fond of cruise ship vacations (no cooking involved) and they accumulated more than 100 seadays aboard those ‘Damm’ ships.  In her later years Marion was involved with mini-golf, bridge and other social activities at Waters Edge.  We thank her friends and neighbours who sent kind regards during her hospital stay.

Following cremation Marion will be placed alongside George, ‘Together Forever’, at Royal Oak Burial Park. No formal celebration of Marion’s life is planned.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you think of Marion when you contribute to your favorite charity.

You are resilient, loving, funny and incredibly special to me and to everyone who knows you. I will miss our chats that covered topics ranging from recipes to romance; I will miss all the times we prepared Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners together in Chris’ and my kitchen, effortlessly coordinating our various kitchen-working styles, talking and reminiscing on all your family traditions and stories. Chris, you and I, along with our ‘kids’ and their partners, created our own family traditions and we will faithfully carry those forward, with you always on our minds and hearts. Thank you for your love, your acceptance, humour and your one-liners that never fail to crack me up.
“Why have water dear, when I can have wine?” “Well, you have a long drive ahead of you.” The list is long and I won’t forget a single one. I love you so much and will miss you always. Rest easy Great Lady.
