Louis passed away suddenly on August 17, 2019 after struggling for several years with dementia and other health issues. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Hanna; his son Pete (Kathy); daughter Cathy; niece Heather (Nolan); his sister Marie Wilkinson; and other relatives.

Born to Natalie and Lena Maggiora in Nanaimo, BC, Louis remained an Island man his whole life. Even his work as a log scaler or rare holidays couldn’t keep him away from “home” for long.

Later years in life were spent collecting old bottles and anything else that caught his eye. He also tried his hand at farming and gardening.

Our sincere thank you to Sandra Meyer, Miles Leonard, and Dr. Milne, and a special thank you to Dr. De Mott and the Jubilee Hospital for their help and compassion during this difficult time.

No Service by request.

So sorry to learn of your loss Kathy. Thinking of you and your family.

My sincere condolences to Hanna, Cathy, Peter and Kathy. Lou was a remarkable guy and his family also fit into the same category. When Lou and I were making cast bullets in the barn I will always remember the cookies and treats that Cathy brought us, just to keep us in good health. Thank you. Lou is in a peaceful place now but he will always know we all loved and respected him.
    Rest in peace.
