It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Laura Margaret Jackson (nee Cluett), October 1st, 2021 in Victoria, BC.
She is predeceased by her husband Peter, (November 2019), parents Stephen and Ann Cluett, sister Hannah Grant (Bryce), brothers Fred Cluett (Violet) and Cyril Cluett (Margaret).
Laura will be sadly missed but always lovingly remembered by her son, Stephen, daughter-in-law Angela and cherished granddaughter Kya. She will also be missed by four wonderful nieces, Patrice (Geoff), Betty (Walter), Barbara, Marilyn, and nephews Larry (Joan), Clarence, Larry (Debbie), Brian (Karen), and Bernie. As well as many great and great great nieces and nephews.
Laura was born in Garnish, Newfoundland and was a teacher until moving to Halifax in 1960. She was employed at the Halifax Chronicle Herald for many years before marrying Peter in 1966. They moved to Toronto where she worked for a consulting company. After their son Stephen was born in 1971, she decided to stay home and be a full-time mother. Laura and Peter lived in various cities across Canada during his career. They moved to Victoria in 1974 and decided to stay.
Laura attended St. Luke’s Anglican Church for many years and was a member of the St. Luke’s Altar Guild. She also enjoyed painting, especially watercolours and was a member of Studio 30 Art Club. Today her watercolours are cherished by all family members.
Laura was a kind, considerate and beautiful person. She was elegance personified.

Don and Carol McDowall We were so sad to learn about Laura’s passing from Stephen. Laura and Peter were our best friends. Laura was a real lady, beautiful, always thoughtful and caring of others and fun to be with. We will always cherish the wonderful times we spent with them both for the rest of our lives.
We spoke with her recently and she was her usual positive lovely self. We didn’t realize at that time that the end of her life could possibly come so soon and we were in a total state of shock when we heard the sorrowful news from Stephen.
We understand what a terrible loss this will be for Stephen, Angela, Kya and Patrice. Laura was so lovable, likeable and kind to all those close to her.
We are sure there will be many more people who will miss her besides her family too.
God bless her and keep her,
Don and Carol McDowall
