It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ken Sexton, a beloved husband, son, brother, and father.  Ken died peacefully on October 28, 2023, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Ken was born in Vancouver on March 6, 1948. He is predeceased by his parents Ray and Clara. Ken will be deeply missed by his wife Diane; daughters Tricia, Michelle (Todd), and Amy (Steve); grandchildren Alexander, Maya, Molly, Paige, and Garrett; siblings Donna Dubois, Cathy Swinscoe, and Clifford Sexton.

Ken grew up in Port Alberni and enjoyed an active lifestyle including hockey, baseball, and hunting.  Following high school, Ken worked at Promac Industries in Port Alberni and ran several successful businesses throughout his career. He married the love of his life, Diane Levesque, whom he was married to for 55 years. Ken loved travelling with Diane and went on many adventures around the world including China, Vietnam, and throughout Europe. He also loved spending time with his family on vacations or holiday get togethers. Additionally, Ken was an amazing woodworker who enjoyed building or flipping houses moving a multitude of times over the course of his life until the final move to Victoria in 2018. He was a kind and generous person who made lasting friendships wherever he lived.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital for being so caring and supportive to Ken throughout the course of his illness. While in the hospital he was known as the “Gentle Giant” by the nursing staff.  Even though he was very ill, he always treated the staff with kindness and courtesy.

A celebration of his life was held on November 18, 2023, in the Sequoia Centre, at McCall Gardens on 4665 Falaise Drive, at 2:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC.
