HARBORD, Justin Victor – Born in Merritt, BC on September 11, 1915, passed away at home on November 10, 2003. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Betty Mae; children, Wendy Rosalie, Pamela Beatrix, Justin Wilson, Betty Mae, David William Cameron and Eleanor Dozier; as well as his extended family.
Justin served with the R.C.A.M.C from 1939 to 1945 touring Canada, England, France, Holland and Germany. Following the war, Justin founded and chaired Harbord Insurance Ltd. until 1987. He was considered a pillar of Victoria and was associated with many businesses and organizations. He was a Director of British Columbia Telephone Co., President of the Insurance Agents Association of BC, President of the Canadian Federation of Insurance and Brokers Association, President of the Queen Alexandra Solarium for Crippled Children, Director of the Victoria Chamber of Commerce and President of the Victoria Community Chest. He was also a member of the Victoria Symphony Society, the Victoria Art Gallery and the Royal Jubilee Hospital, member of the Victoria Golf Club and a life member of the Union Club of Victoria. Justin served on Boards and Committees of the University of Victoria for over 25 years. A member of the Board of Governors of the University of Victoria, Chairman of the Advisory Board and Member of the Board of Directors.
