Julia Iris Lillooet Shaw née Goodship, passed away peacefully at home on July 2nd in the early hours of the morning with her daughter at her side.  Julia had been surrounded by her loving family over the past few months during her illness. The family expresses their thanks to her doctors, the wonderful staff at the Victoria Cancer Clinic, the hospice nurses, and a special thanks to Misha, Annie, Dominique, and Sue for their compassionate care.

Julia was born in New Westminster on May 17, 1930.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Millo, son Geoffrey, her sisters Evelyn (Peter), Laurel (Gordon), and brother Frank (Jean).  She is survived by her brother Geoffrey (Freddie), son Millo, daughters Jennifer (Tom), Michele (Cam) and daughter in law Caroline, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Julia grew up in Port Moody and after graduation from high school went into training at the Royal Columbian Hospital to obtain her Nursing diploma.  During her long career she worked in the emergency department, pediatrics, surgical units, long term care, and she operated a dispensary in Nyeri, Kenya.

Julia travelled the world extensively with her husband and family and in later years she travelled with her sister Evelyn.  There were many joys in her life.  She loved going for long walks, she had a passion for gardening, cooking, sewing, and she was an excellent knitter.  Above all her life revolved around her family and her Traditional Anglican Church.  She will be sorely missed but always held close in our hearts.

The requiem Mass will be held at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Evangelist with Archbishop Shane Janzen as celebrant at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
