With great sadness and love, we mourn the passing of our dearest John on October 17, 2022, at the age of 91. Predeceased by Bernice, his sweetheart and wife of 61 years, John will be dearly missed by his daughter Jennifer (Glenn) and grandchildren Jessica and Lucas. He also leaves his sister Joan, brother-in-law Wendell, sister-in-law Patricia, brother-in-law Stewart, dear nieces and nephews, and many special friends.
Born and raised in Victoria to parents Jock and Flo, John enjoyed a lifetime of outdoor adventures that often involved fishing, hiking camping and sailing. John was a man of great conversation and stories, quick to laugh, and generous with his time and many talents. He enjoyed a long career at CFB Esquimalt Dockyard in instrument repair and had great skill in fixing all things. Ever grateful for the long retirement he enjoyed with Bernice, John was a tremendously thoughtful father, grandfather, friend and dog whisperer.
Thank you to the staff of St Charles Manor and the staff on 3S and 8N at the Royal Jubilee Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Cordova Bay United Church, 813 Claremont Avenue, on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 2:00 pm.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Diane Crowther Though I’ve not seen you since you were a child, Jennifer, I still carry with me memories of you and Alison coming for piano lessons—the ringlets your mother lovingly wound in your hair always amazed me! She was such a lovely person and I can only imagine your father was equally loving and caring; I wish I had known him, too. I’m so sorry to read of your father’s passing and send you and your family my love and condolences.

Cindy Webb Thinking of you and your family Jennifer. You father was a wonderful man and I cherished all of our visits together over the years. Keep your memories of him close to your heart and please reach out if I can help in anyway. ❤️❤️
Prayers of comfort for you and your family. So sorry I missed uncle John’s celebration of life. Did not want to share my bug. I heard mom and dad made it. They were glad they could make it. My dad has good memories of time well spent with Uncle John and Aunt Joan when he was young.
