I estimate watching over 900 hockey games with Joe because our sons played minor hockey together. He was a wonderful hockey dad, coach, referee and player. He was also my good friend: understanding, calm, caring and compassionate. He had a great sense of humor and could always see the funny side of life, especially when I couldn’t. I was planning to attend his Celebration of Life but unfortunately was in the hospital undergoing brain surgery on that day. I had a speech prepared. My profound condolences now go out to Geoff and the family. Joe made a big difference in my life. I will never forget him.

Joe was our neighbour in the early 1980’s in Beaumont, AB. He was always so kind, funny and easy-going. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. My sincere sympathy to all of you. Geoff and Nicole you both were hoisted over the fence many times and were the first friends of my children. I have fond memories of those moments. Take good care.

It is with a very heavy heart that I have to write this message. Joe was my co-worker for 27.5 years but more importantly he was also a friend for almost 32 years. We shared many conversations, laughs and beer through Hot Rod road trips, dinners, staff coffee breaks and parties. His wide circle of friends and acquaintances is a testament to the kind and honest man he was. Sending love and strength to his extended families.
RIP Joe. I will think of you often.
