Jerry passed away peacefully on June 2, 2024. He was born in Vegreville, Alberta on October 22, 1944, and moved to Victoria with his family at a young age.

He was a Site Superintendent in construction overseeing many important projects on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland before retiring. Jerry also volunteered many hours to the sport of Lacrosse on the Island and for BC and eventually became the Commissioner of the BCLA. He had a strong passion and love for his field in Construction and Lacrosse. During his retirement, with a steady hand and an eye for detail, he loved building model kits and painting Ukrainian Easter eggs.

Jerry is survived by sons, Craig (Carmen) and Ryan (Leslie); grandchildren, Jordan, Adam and Lauren; sister, Mary Porochiwnyk and brother Bill Berezowski, nieces and nephews.

There will be no service by request.

I have fond memories of Uncle Jerry from my childhood. He was quick to laugh and quick to lend a helping hand. I remember how he worked to develop the basement in our home and even made time to build a playhouse with my grandfather for us kids. Later on, in adulthood, we enjoyed visits with him on Vancouver Island. We will miss Jerry and the presence he brought to every room.
May you rest in peace, Uncle Jerry.

To Mary, Bill, Craig, Ryan and families: So sorry to hear about Jerry’s passing. I especially remember young Jerry’s letters he sent to his brother Bill and I when we were overseas (airmail only then!), keeping us informed about the family. We sure appreciated receiving those letters.

Thinking about you, all the best,

    Noella

As the Lead Superintendent for the Special Projects Department at PCL I had the pleasure of having Jerry come out of retirement and oversee several projects for us in recent years. In addition to the knowledge and experience he brought to his work it was his genuine enthusiasm and positive nature that really made him a stand out. He was generous with his time in mentoring and supporting others. I am glad that I had the opportunity to get to know Jerry and work with him, we will miss him.

I am so sorry that your Dad/Jerry passed away. He gave Art and I a helping hand whenever we asked.
    Love, Aunt Bev.

I just wanted to pass along my condolences on the passing of Jerry, my first job with PCL as a project manager was with Jerry at the Empress Hotel Lobby Stair Replacement. We worked together on a number of other jobs in Victoria and I have great memories working with him. He was a fun, positive, hard working man whom I had a great deal of respect for and I sorry to have heard of his passing. My thoughts are with you.
