Flatman – James Harry, died peacefully on July 11, 2003 at Mt. St. Mary Hospital, Victoria. He was born on June 10, 1916 in Denholm, Sask. Jim is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Trudie; his children, David, Barry, Joyce Bronwen (Pat) Roney, and Trevor (Jody); grandchildren, Mary, John, Darryl, Samantha, Megan, Braeden, Alex, and Leah; sisters, Edna Kennedy, Margery Lecky, and Helen (Herbert) Taylor; many other relatives and friends. Jim recently mourned the loss of his dear friend, Bishop Hywel

Jones, with whom he spent many years with in church duties and activities at St. John’s Anglican Church, Colwood and St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Oak Bay.

His deep involvement in the Masonic Fraternity consisted of being a Past Master of Confederation Lodge, A. F. & A. M., # 116, GRBCY, charter member of Goldstream Lodge, A. F. & A. M., # 161, GRBCY, Past Grand Superintendent of Works, GRBCY, Past Thrice Puissant Grand Master of the Lodge of

Perfection, Past Most Wise Sovereign Grand Master of Rose Croix, member of Vancouver Island and B.C. Consistories 33, Red Cross of Constantine, Western Canada # 25 and Pacific # 27 Conclaves.

Jim was also a valued employee of McCall Bros. Funeral Directors for 25 years.

The Flatmans would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Norman Rivers, Mrs. Elizabeth Rivers, and Dr. John Miller for their many years of care and attention, and also to the nurses and all staff at Mt. St. Mary Hospital for their exceptional care during the past year. All will remember Jim’s wry sense of humour and stoic nature.

Family and friends may pay their respects at McCall Bros. Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, July 15 from 7:30 – 8:30 pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, 1701 Elgin Street, on Wednesday, July 16,

2003 at 2:00 pm. Donations may be made to the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal, 2695 Quadra Street, Victoria, V8T 4E3 or a charity of one’s choice.
