Born on December 10, 1927 in St. Anne’s-on-the Sea in England, Irene married David Leslie Skippon and moved to the Channel Islands in 1966. She loved to travel, enjoying many wonderful family holidays in Switzerland, France and Spain. In 1979 the family moved to Victoria, B.C, Canada in search of new opportunities for their son David. Irene was a woman of many talents… cooking, gardening, golfing, hiking, tennis, woodworking, ukulele, knitting and painting. She could do it all. As a member of the Royal Colwood Golf Club from 1989 to 2014 she met many dear friends. Preceded in death by her brother Peter Snape, sister Jean Jury and husband David Leslie Skippon.
A celebration of Irene’s life will be held in the Sequoia Center at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, this Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM.

Marianne Johnson Irene was a lovely soul. Always refreshing to chat with!!
This email is intended to reach David Skippon. You don’t know me, but I wanted to extend my sympathies to you in the loss of your mom, Irene Skippon. I used to visit Irene often, when she lived on Battery Street and then in Ross Place. I shared comforting Bible verses with her. This scripture in particular that she found very interesting was in Psalms 37:10, 11, 29. where it says ‘ Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, And they will not be there. 11 But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.. The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it’. This assurance that meek ones would inherit the earth and have the opportunity to live forever, puzzled her, but she said, ‘ If the Bible says that, it must be true’. She was also comforted by the Bibles promise for those we have lost in death being resurrected here on a paradise earth. I was always so impressed at her gracious manner and humility. I certainly loved getting to know Irene. Sending my heartfelt condolences to you. I am one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and would welcome a reply. Very sincerely , Joanne Wiffen
