Hilda peacefully finished her life journey at VGH on October 22, 2023. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soulmate Gordon in 2015; her parents and three siblings. She will be missed by her sisters, Martha Reid, Iris Parker; nephew Trevor Parker and niece Dawn Parker and their families and many other nieces and nephews across Canada and the USA.
Hilda was born, raised, educated and started her teaching career in Saskatchewan followed by Kamloops and then Victoria where she taught until her retirement. She taught kindergarten in several Victoria school districts.
She loved to travel and play golf. They travelled extensively and resided in several places including California for a number of years before returning to Canada where they enjoyed BC’s Okanagan cities of Oliver and Penticton.
Hilda decided to return to the island and made Norgarden Retirement residence in Sidney her home until her passing. Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Norgarden for making her final years as happy and comfortable as possible. The staff became her friends. Also, thank you to Dr. Valerie Cowan and Dr. Warder for their kind and excellent professional care. Many thanks to the VGH emergency staff and the staff of S6A for their compassion and care.
Hilda is at peace and free of pain. We loved her and we miss her.

I had my first teaching job at Marigold Elementary where Hilda taught Kindergarten. She was a lovely lady and fantastic teacher of many youngsters! I know she is remembered fondly by many!
