Sadly, Henk passed away peacefully at VGH after having a stroke. He was born in Zeist, Holland, and then in 1953 he emigrated to Canada. His fiancé Johanna followed soon after and they married. Unfortunately, she passed away in 1956.

Henk worked at BC Forest and Dockyard as a Millwright, but his favourite pastime was building: planes and boats, both models and full size, then he flew was he had built. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing and travelling. In 1963 Henk married Ruby.

Henk leaves sons Johannes (Joe), Lee and Brian, grandchildren Lindsey, Jenny and Steven, sister Hyke and brothers Theo in Holland, John (Sandra) in Canada, plus nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life took place in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm.

  • Marco and Yvonne Roodenburg

Our condolences to all of you.
Marco went alone to Canada in 1980 and spent a few wonderful days at his boat with Henk, Ruby and niece Brenda.
I (Yvonne) met uncle Henk a few times when we were in Canada.
We have good memories of him. We enjoyed his stories which he told full of passion and glistening pretend eyes.
    We will miss him!
