Hanne passed away at home in her sleep on Monday morning, September 24, 2018 at the age of 80. Hanne was born in Slagelse, Denmark on February 23, 1938 to Paul and Rita Jensen. She grew up first in Denmark with her parents, sister Lis and brother Palle. In 1948, the whole family immigrated to Canada, first in Ontario where they lived until 1951 and then moved to Victoria, BC where the children did all of their schooling.
Hanne attended Victoria College which became UVIC long after. Later on, Hanne and her siblings attended UBC for the rest of their studies. Hanne met Jean Baptiste in Saanich where and when sparks started! Hanne was a linguist and became a very dedicated and appreciated professor of English literature and composition at UBC (Vancouver), UVIC (Victoria) and Saskatoon. Hanne was also a very good gardener, she loved all flowers and had very good taste in mixing them successfully. She was also an avid reader and regularly exchanged books with Jean Baptiste.
Hanne will be greatly missed by her husband, Jean Baptiste of 57 years ( October 28 ,2018), sons Christophe and Noah (Jenise), dear grandchildren Wyatt (13), Henri (10), and Mya (7), French and Danish relatives and friends, as well as many long-time friends and friendly neighbours in Canada.
A private Celebration of her long and successful life will take place in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. She would have chosen “Our Place” in Victoria.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Gail Branton Mrs. Quillevere taught me in a literature course at UBC many years ago. I never forgot her. She was interested, warm and engaging — a wonderful lecturer. I am sure the family will be comforted with many lovely memories of this great lady.

Sorry for your loss. We have many memories of chatting about our kids and our gardens with Hanne while you were our neighbors on Chandler.
