PICKARD Guy William. Guy was born in Duncan, B.C., on January 2, 1921, and died peacefully in Victoria on December 9, 2003. Guy is remembered with much love by his wife Matilda (Tillie) and his family: daughters Judith (Doug) and Carole (George), grandchildren Adam, Jillian (Gary), Haley and Liam, sisters Nancy and Isabelle, and brothers David, Louie, Mac and Bruce. He was predeceased by his eldest sister, Barbara. Guy’s life was devoted to service and hard work. He fought in WorldWar II and then remained in Europe after the war was over to assist with post-war duties. He was a master carpenter who often lent a hand to friends and neighbours who needed help around their houses and yards. He was a dedicated, nationally recognized track and field official, and in his retirement was a long time volunteer for Operation Trackshoes, an annual track meet for children with special needs. He and Tillie made regular visits to “The Priory” in Langford, bringing cheerto residents. In his retirement he also greatly enjoyed his grandchildren and garden. Fond memories of Guy’s cheerfulness and his devotion to family will sustain us: “He was a great guy!” A celebration of Guy’s life will be held at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson and Vancouver Streets, on Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Guy’s behalf to “Operation Trackshoes,” c/o Camosun College, 3100 Foul Bay Rd.,Victoria, B.C.
