It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mother and nana, Gladys Otto (Delbrouck) on May 15, 2022 at Saanich Peninsula Hospital. Gladys passed away peacefully onto her next journey. She leaves behind her loving brother, Bill (Ann) Greenhalgh, her children, Bobbie, Berniece, Brian (Neila), and many family members and friends all close to her heart.
Gladys was born June 9, 1922 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She moved to the Peninsula with her family at the age of 12, where she stayed for the rest of her life.
Gladys will be remembered for her strong sense of family, her spunk in life, the love of a laugh, a good card game, a dance, and her witty responses. She made many contributions to the community, through volunteering, fundraising and starting various organizations.
It is with memories of almost 100 years of life that Gladys leaves us, she lived them well and to her fullest. She will be remembered and missed dearly.
The family wishes to thank the Staff at Saanich Peninsula Hospital and the Peninsula Health Unit Home Care Nursing team for their excellent and compassionate care.
A Funeral service will be held on May 21, 2022 at 10:00am at St Mary’s Anglican Church, 1973 Cultra Ave., Saanichton, BC. Interment to follow at Hatley Memorial Gardens.
In addition, a Celebration of Life will be held in lieu of what would have been her 100th birthday party, on June 12, 2022 at the Saanich Fair Grounds from 2-4:30pm. Please contact the family to RSVP for the Celebration of Life.

June Reimer I totally remember Gladys from when I was a child growing up at Saanichton….. she was Bernice‘s mom but she was mostly just Gladys a small force of joy and energy. I’ve so enjoyed seeing the pictures of Gladys on Cam‘s Facebook pages and love the fact that she was able to enrich your lives and you hers for almost 100 years ❤️ Love to all June (Farrell) Reimer
