It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother Giuseppa Calabro Bova on April 20, 2015. Giuseppa passed away at the age of 87 in Victoria BC.

Giuseppa was predeceased by her husband Giorgio Bova; parents Alessio Calabro and Rosa Romeo; brother Antonino (Maria); sisters Angela (Francesco), Anna, Francesca and Maria. Giuseppa will be sadly missed by her loving son Alessio Bova; daughter in law Francesca; and grandson Giorgio. She also leaves to mourn her sister in law Maria Cotroneo Bova; brother in law Giuseppe Bova (Francesca); brother in law Giorgio Porpiglia and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Victoria, Winnipeg and Italy.

Giuseppa was born in Sant’Alessio in Aspromonte, Italy on May 8, 1927. She strongly believed in the importance of higher education and was trained as a teacher in Italy. She worked as a substitute teacher before marrying her husband Giorgio Bova on July 7, 1959. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Winnipeg where their son Alessio was born. Giuseppa had a strong work ethic and was employed as a machinist in a bus manufacturing plant where she worked for many years in Winnipeg. After retiring, Giuseppa moved to Victoria, BC with her husband and son by her side. She was an exceptional cook and took pleasure in preparing meals for her family. A regular parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima, she maintained her education and enjoyed reading and discussing various health issues with her family and friends.

Prayers to be held at 8:00pm on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4635 Elk Lake Drive, Victoria, B.C.. Funeral Mass to be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 30th at Our Lady of Fatima. Entombment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park Mausoleum, Victoria, B.C.

    Cari Alessio, Francesca & Giorgio,
