It is with broken hearts that we announce the loss of our beautiful Gail, who lost her courageous battle with cancer.  She was surrounded by loved ones at Victoria Hospice Centre on May 27, 2022 at the age of 71.   She was born on May 14, 1951 in St. Paul, Minnesota and was the third child of Ellen and Jack Krumwiede.

Gail leaves behind her husband, Glenn Pritchard, of 24 years, her daughter Richelle Straith (Dean), her son, Curtis Lane (Claire), her much loved grandchildren, Keltie, Lachlyn, Sophia and Jackson, her mother, Ellen, her brothers, John and Gary Krumwiede, her sisters Jan Kohout (Jack), Lynn Rapanos (Bill), Julie Fitchett (Ming), as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.  She is predeceased by her father, Jack Krumwiede, and her daughter, Michelle Lane.

Gail had a beautiful and youthful spirit and was loved by all who knew her.  She had a successful practice as a massage therapist for over twenty years, working in Victoria, British Columbia.  Spirituality was very important to Gail and she was a true humble yogi with regular practice of yoga and meditation.  Gail also bettered the lives of many children in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, with her charitable efforts to bring food and education to the children of the New Manitoba School during her annual winter stay.

Gail’s great passions included spending time in nature, hiking, biking, gardening, cooking, reading and taking care of her health, exploring other cultures, and most importantly spending time with her family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at the end of summer with her family and close friends.

Gail lived a full life and is truly missed by all those that she left behind.

Give Mimi and Dad (Papa) a huge hug from all of us!!”

Gail had a wonderful way of making people feel loved and cared for. A big wave and smile when riding her bike makes you smile and wave too. She had a lovely way of healing more than your injury.
    A very special soul

    Glenn and family,
I was devastated to hear the news. Never was there a more beautiful soul that walked this planet. She cared so much for her family, her patients and all creatures. I haven’t seen Gail for some time having moved up to Parksville but my friendship with her both as a patient and friend remain with me forever. I feel such a profound sadness for her loss and extend condolences to all of you.

  • Karen Robinson

Mrs. Krumweide, Julie, Lynn and families,
I am so terribly sorry to learn of the passing of your beautiful daughter and sister.
I have lovely memories of Gail. I especially loved when Julie and I would visit Gail at her sweet little cottage on Parker Ave. Gail always went out of her way to talk to me when I passed by and often invited me in. She made me feel special.

I hope knowing how truly beautiful Gail was to others will bring you some comfort at this difficult time.

I am sending my heartfelt condolences and big loving hugs to all of you.

    Love Karen

    Dear Glenn
We are so saddened by Gail’s passing. Our serendipitous meeting the two of you in a Vancouver restaurant a number of years ago lead to bicycle rides and back and forth meals between our houses – leaving us with warm memories. I personally benefitted from Gail’s expertise as a Registered Massage Therapist – she had such a healing touch. She truly was a beautiful human being.
    Our deepest sympathy.
    Mary Horton, Mike Mooney

  • Sandra Lindquist

    So sorry for your loss.

  • Annie and Stuart Norwood

A few brief words I’m sending you in all sincerity to assure you of our deep and heartfelt sympathy. When sorrows come to those we love we know not what to say. Words are inadequate our feelings to convey. None can really share our griefs, we suffer each apart for only time can speak the word that mends a broken heart. Only time can give the peace that makes the soul resigned. Only time can bring the balm that calms the troubled mind.
All that We can do is pray that you’ll be given strength that you will need in this your bitter hour.
Words I know can’t take away the pain another bares but I’m wanting you know you’re In our thoughts and prayers..

During my long connection with the wonderful Krumwiede family I so loved Gail for many reasons. She was often the voice of reason to her teenaged sisters. Quite simply she was a genuine lovely, caring person on many levels. Our last meeting was filled with laughter and warmth. She was a GEM! My heart goes out to those who will miss her terribly
