Gail passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 18 years, Tom Coward, whose love and devoted care provided Gail much comfort during her illness. She also leaves behind her children Derrick (Heather) Hamilton and Danna (Garth) Thoroughgood; Grandchildren Hailey, Jaimey, Carson, Nolan and Macey; sisters Linda (Bill) and Bonnie (John) and many other family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Alice Pederson, and former husband and father to their children, Bill Hamilton.

Gail was born in Chilliwack B.C. but spent her life in Victoria. Early in her career she was an elementary school teacher in the Sooke School District followed by an 18-year career with the Government of Canada.

During retirement Gail and Tom together enjoyed extensive travel adventures to every corner of the globe enjoying different cultures, good food and fine wine. She enjoyed a busy social life with friends and family living life to the fullest. If there was an adventure Gail was up for it. Sewing days and getaways with her closest friends and sisters were her favourite times. Gail’s love for all dogs brightened her days until the end.  She always had a pocket full of dog treats.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sidney All Care for their great care and compassion.

Please join our family as we gather to celebrate the beautiful life of Gail on Monday, November 25, anytime between 1:00-3:00pm at the Royal Colwood Golf Course.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Island Kids Cancer Association or charity of your choice.
