Our family wishes to share with the community the passing of Florence Barber (Vanderbeck), our loved and cherished “Auntie Flo” on November 1, 2021, age 103. Flo was a devoted wife, a loving, caring daughter, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt and a friend to many. Her career with Hudson’s Bay Co. connected Flo with Eric Barber, whom she married on October 8, 1959. Together they worked at various outlets from Labrador to Vancouver and shared love and life until Eric’s passing in 1996.
Flo was an avid fan of Victoria Payless fastball and rarely missed a home game. In later years she also enjoyed the Social Butterfly and the Silver Threads groups, curling, mahjong and line dancing. She was an active supporter of many charities including the Victoria Hospice.
Always a lady, we will remember her loving, caring heart, strong faith in Jesus and her positive attitude.
We are very grateful to all the staff at Cumberland Lodge who so graciously, compassionately and lovingly cared for Flo. Thank You! Flo will be buried beside her husband at Royal Oak Burial Park during a private Graveside Service.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or an animal charity of your choice in her memory. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Natalie Agate The Social Butterflies of Victoria really enjoyed Flo”s company, on our many, fun outings. Flo was a pleasure to know…. & will be remembered as a sweet, gentle & lovely lady. A long life, well lived!
RIP Flo.RIP.
Very sad to learn of my Aunt’s passing through this website. Although Flo only visited England on one occasion, we corresponded for many years and we all have very fond memories of her and Uncle Eric.
