In loving memory of our Felicia, who left this world far too soon on February 1st, 2024. Born on August 3rd, 1989, Felicia Lynn Zaalberg is survived by her parents, Joyce Anne Zaalberg and William (Bill) Colin Zaalberg; her nana, Lois Futcher; her grandma, Lois Chenard (Colin); her brothers, Kiel Taylor (wife Dani Heavenor), Tristan Calvert, Lucas Zaalberg, Keith and Jason Veness (Zaalberg); her nephew, Puck Heavenor and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by her much loved poppy, Morey Futcher.
Felicia, known to most as Fee, brought laughter into every room she entered. Her vibrant personality, fiery spirit and charm left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Whether through heartfelt conversations, shared jokes, sarcasm, or gestures of care, Fee had a remarkable ability to connect with others and make them feel loved. Her capacity for understanding and compassion toward others, human and animal alike, knew no bounds. Fee’s sharp wit and profound wisdom were matched only by her immense empathy and courage.
Fee faced life’s challenges head-on, with wit and resilience (and probably armed with a snack or two). Despite facing challenges, she remained resilient, humorous and offered unwavering support to those around her. Regardless of what she was going through, she always had a clever quip, or anecdote to share. Fee’s courage and strength in the face of adversity were truly inspiring, which is a testament to who she was as a person.
Fee was a whirlwind of hilarity with a heart as big as her love for memes, and her animal companions. With a penchant for silly jokes, and an undeniable love for dachshunds (especially her beloved Jinx), she knew the true meaning of continuing to embrace your inner child.
Fee was always unapologetically herself, which is a truly admirable trait.
Though our hearts are heavy, let us also celebrate the joy and laughter she brought into our lives. Fee may be gone, but her memory will live on in the silly memes we share, the animals we cuddle, and the delicious treats we enjoy. Fee always loved a new treat to try, an addition to her ever-growing dachshund collection, a drawing from her nephew, and being with the people she loved.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Woodley, the staff at the Cancer Clinic and Palliative Care Unit at Jubilee, and the palliative care staff at San Penn hospital for care at the end of life. Thank you for giving us more time with Fee.
Rest in peace, sweet Fee. May you find happiness in the company of your Poppy and all the furry friends who have gone before you. Until we meet again, know that you are loved, remembered, and deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the BCSPCA in her name, an organization (read: dogs) Fee was deeply passionate about and supported throughout her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Taryn Felicia, I will never forget the time working with you at Hillside. You are one of my favourite people I’ve ever worked with. Since I found out about your passing I’ve had no idea what to say. I’ve tried writing messages on your fb wall again and again and nothing is enough. I’m glad we never lost contact after Hillside.
I will miss you.

Ross Hazlehurst So sorry for your loss, love Ross Moira Kieran and Ethan.❤️
Like many, I have a hard time articulating my thoughts to paper. What an absolute profound loss to Fee’s parents and families, her dear friends, and those of us who didn’t know her as well, but the stamp she left with her humour, fighting spirit and genuine love and caring and chats will be missed deeply. RIP sweet angel.
