Born on November 10, 1924. Passed away on April 2, 2009 at Glenwarren Lodge. Ed was born in Victoria, BC and truly appreciated Vancouver Island as the ‘most beautiful place on earth’. He is predeceased by his mother, father, brothers Phil and Art and sister Marg. Survived by his children, Cal, Sharon-Lee (Ken), Todd (Chris) and grandchildren Spencer, Sarah and Heather. Ed is also survived by his caring sister-in-law Vera, his nephew and nieces (Doug, Lorrie and Jan) and their extended families. The Young family owned and operated the Esquimalt Meat Market for 80 years. An easygoing gently soul, Ed had a quiet sense of humour, accepted his weaknesses and never forgot Helen. Ed shared his passion for fishing and hunting with his sons. A sports fan, Ed was a skilled soccer player and travelled on the provincial team in his youth. Ed was also thankful for the kindness of others, whether a visit, card or phone call. In his retirement, Ed enjoyed long walks with his brother Phil, the companionship fo his sister Marg, following sports and could still play a mean game of crib.

The family would like to thank the caring and supportive staff at Glenwarren Lodge and his long time physician, Dr. R. D. Nicholl. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Private family arrangements.

Dad, you are ‘A-1′. You never complained and your strong work ethics and values are with us. Gone fishing …….

Cal, Sharon, Todd, and your familys… Mom, Jan, Brad, Launi, and myself , were so sorry to hear about your dad’s passing. We sure remembered him with fond memories. We were at moms when we got your mom’s message. We remembered your dad bringing over goodies, and meat for for us, and most of all his happy disposition. And I mostly remember the Planters peanuts, that were always around, when I baby sat., on good old Rockwell Ave. We all have fond memories of visits to your house at Shawnigan Lake, and your mom and dad letting me play poker with them and my parents. We sat in the kitchen with the fire going in the woodstove, rain pouring outside, eating chips and peanuts, and I even won some games! Our thoughts are with you and your familys, and your mom as well.

    Dear family:
Thank you Sharon, for your phone call. We were sorry to hear and read, that Ed has passed away and glad to hear his family was with him.

Alf says he has many pleasant memories of the Young family in Esquimalt and of all the times he spent playing many different sports with Ed.

It is difficult to hear of the death of your friends as we get into our senior years but memories mean a lot.

Alf is fortunate that his health has been really quite good for his age. Lawn Bowling starts soon, so he is keeping up with participating in sports.

    Take care, all of you.
    Alf and Jean Jenkins
